Developer Begins Sales of Marlin Bay Yacht Club in Florida Keys

Marathon, FL- Friday, January 19, 2007 - A grand opening celebration welcomed more than 100 top-producing real estate brokers from the Florida Keys to the launch party of Marlin Bay Yacht Club .
Sandler at Greater Marathon Bay announced the start of sales efforts at Marlin Bay Yacht Club, a gated-access community offering a collection of 84 single-family homes, clubhouse, pool and 99 deepwater boat slips located on the bay side at mile marker 49.5 in Marathon, Florida. Although real estate sales are slowing in some areas, the Florida Keys' luxury real estate market continues to maintain its growth.

Luxury Homes Sales Remain Strong in Challenging Market
According to the National Association of Realtors October results, existing-home sales in the South slipped 1.2 percent to an annual sales rate of 2.49 million in October, 8.8 percent below a year ago. However, sales of homes in country club and resort communities have maintained their strength, including the robust sales outcomes in the luxury market in the Florida Keys.
"We've seen the prestige market go up when the rest of the market is going down," says John Karevoll, analyst with DataQuick, in a recent USA Today article. "These buyers are evaluating tax considerations, capital gains considerations and return on investment. They are not exposed to the normal real estate cycle like the rest of us." Further evidence suggests that there are often not enough inventories available for buyers who are interested in high-end luxury properties.
